Thank you for stopping by our page!

Last week, 8th grade Drama students shifted gears from performing on the stage and telling a playwright’s story to more personal work that tells their own story. Modeled after NPR’s “This I Believe” series and based on the work of a colleague of mine, this project is a new learning experience for everyone involved.

After looking at, discussing, and considering NPR’s “This I Believe” series, students are currently working on composing their own “This I Believe” essay. When students’ essays are complete, they will record their work to share with a wider audience through this site and through podcasting technology. We hope that you will check back often, leave comments, and be a part of our conversation.

Middle school students have a lot to say–believe me, it’s true! In the three years I have spent at Jefferson, I have watched my students grow up, change, and begin to find their voice. Their voices are voices of maturity and seriousness, silliness and laughter. These are the voices that fill the halls of our school, that make up the fabric of our world. I invite you to join us–not just to listen, but to really hear these voices and to be a part of our conversation.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Ms. Williams
