This I Believe–Ross

Posted by jefferson8 on 19th December 2007

I believe that one day I will be in the NBA because I’m good at basketball . Plus I’ve made every team that I have tried out for. Also I have a lot of potential. I have had this dream for a long time now. I believe that I can reach my goal.          For example, every game I try my hardest. If so, I try to put up at least 6 points or more on my stats. But you shouldn’t be a ball hog. Ball hogging can make the whole team lose and you don’t want that. That’s what I believe. I believe that everyone should have at least one chance to be on the team or getting to play in the game. I’m a good dribbler, a good passer, a good shooter, and even a good stealer. I believe that if you’re not that good then you shouldn’t get in the game until your team is up by a lot unless your team is lousing. But that’s just my own opinion. You don’t have to believe it if you don’t want to.

I believe that no one should be a show off because while you are showing off, you may not even know that you are embarrassed at the same time. We should all give it our best effort in everything. I believe in being a team. You have to because team work works. I’ve have had this dream every since I taught myself how to play basketball. I believe that if I don’t get to go to the NBA then I will find myself something else to do. I should have a better job but I still will love to play basketball even though I might not be drafted. This is what I believe.

This I Believe–Hannah

Posted by jefferson8 on 19th December 2007

I BELIVE THAT GIRLS AND BOYS SHOULD BE TREATED EQUALLY BECAUSE MANY GIRLS AND BOYS HAVE AND POSSESS THE SAME PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL ABILITIES. FOOTBALL AND BASEBALL ARE ALL EXAMPLES OF THE DISCRIMINATION SHOWN IN TODAYS WORLD. BECAUSE GIRLS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PLAY OR GET SOME OF THE JOBS THAT THEY WANT BECAUSE THEY MIGHT ONLY BE FOR BOYS. I BELIVE THAT GIRLS SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO PLAY IN THE NFL, BECAUSE MANY GIRLS HAVE GONE AND PLAYED IN HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE FOOTBALL AND HAVE TAKEN A TACKLE FROM A HUGE LINE MEN. THROWN A BALL AND MADE THE GAMES WINNING TOUCHDOWN. HAD THERE OWN LITTLE TOUCHDOWN DANCE FOR WHEN THEY PROVED THAT THEY CAN BEAT THE BOYS BY MAKING A TOUCHDOWN. BUT THEY CANT TAKE THAT ANYWHERE BUT HOME. TO SIT BECAUSE WERE NOT ALLOWED IN THE NFL EVEN THOUGH SOME OF US GIRLS ARE REALLY GOOD AND HAVE A LOT OF PASSION AND CAN PLAY. I BELIVE THAT BASEBALL IS A GREAT SPORT BUT GIRLS ARENT ALLOWED TO GO TO THE MAJOR LEAGUES AND SOME ARE REALLY GOOD AT BASE BALL AND SOFTBALL BUT CANT PLAY SOFT BALL THAT WELL EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE PRETTY MUCH THE SAME SPORT THERES DIFFERENCES IN BEETWEEN THE TWO AND GIRLS SOME HAVE BEEN PLAYING BASEBALL SINCE THEY WERE LITTLE KIDS.!!! BUT ARE THEY GIVEN A CHANCE. NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND IT’S DISCRIMINATION AND NOT RIGHT AND IT SHOULD BE STOPED. BUT NO ONE WILL STAND UP FOR WHATS RIGHT CAUSE THERE SCARED AND THAT’S WHY ROSA PARKS AND MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. WERE SO BIG BECAUSE THEY STOOD UP FOR THEMSELVES AND GAVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY BELIVED IN AND GOT WHAT THEY WANTED WICH WAS BLACKS AND WHITES TO BE CREATED EQUAL AND THEY NOW ARE. I BELIVE THAT MARTIN LUTHER KING JUNIOR SHOULD HAVE PREACHED NOT ONLY ABOUT BLACKS AND WHITES BUT ABOUT MEN AND WOMEN AND BOYS AND GIRLS AND HOW THERE THE SAME IN SO MANY WAYS. THAT BOYS ARE FIT AND GOOD AT SPORTS BUT CANDICE PARKER WAS THE FIRST WOMEN TO DUNK IN THE NBA AND SHE BEAT FIVE GUYS IN A DUNKING CONTEST AND STACEY PARKER WAS THE FIRST FEMALE KICKER TO JOIN THE NFL AND THAT JUST PROVES THAT GIRLS ARE JUST AS GOOD AS GUYS BUT ARE NOT TREATED IN THE SAME WAY. I BELIEVE THAT GIRLS AND GUYS ARE THE SAME AND SHOULD BE TREATED THAT WAY. EVERY ONE IS CREATED EQUAL AND SHOULDN’T BE JUDGED BY THE OUT SIDES BUT BY THE PASSION FOR THE SPORT, THE JOB, THE GAME, THE ART AND SO MUCH MORE. THIS IS ALSO A DEMOCRACY AND EVERYONE HAS THE RIGHT TO SUCCED OR FAIL. AND GIRLS ARENT GIVEN THAT CHANCE BECAUSE WHY?

This I Believe–William

Posted by jefferson8 on 19th December 2007

Music I believe in music, song and rhyme because the world is near meaningless without the joy of music . Nobody’s life would be the same without it, even if you could not hear the music for yourself. When I was young I liked the music my parents would listen to, thinking it was the best, and too me it was. As I have gotten older I noticed that the music .I loved was only a small part of the music in the world. Never listened to the other forms of music from country to Swahili that’s what I believe. The reason why I say this is because I never listened to any other kinds of music. Now I lesson to other forms of music. All are great in their own spectacular way. So now I am in the 8th grade. Singing in the after school choir. I sing in tenor and bass I can also sing as a false soprano Singing is my favorite type of music. Music is the best thing in my life. Music is my life. Like I said before world is meaningless without the marvelous joy of music. That is what I believe I believe in music.

This I Believe–Genever

Posted by jefferson8 on 19th December 2007

I believe in school, because it is very important to human understanding. Also in school you get to see other people and that is where you begin to learn. School is a place where you get your life together and make the world a better place to live in, so I believe in school. In school, you get to build good habits and behavior because you have everything that will make you who you want to be.

Like old people say your dream is in your hand so if you do not make use of it you can do nothing. I believe in school. Like my mother always says, school is very important because if you go to school you will have a good man to marry and you will have everything you want in life. So, I very much believe in school.

You may think that school is not good, but when it comes to a point that you cannot do anything for yourself, that is the time you realize that school is the most important thing on Earth. I believe that school is very important. I believe that I have the right to go to school, because I need the education. Without the education I cannot be who I want to be.

When my friends see me coming to school they laughed at me and some will called me name, but all I care is I need to go to school. You may think that when people are laughing at you it will be the end of the world, but it is not the end of the world for you. You will be the best of all and have everything in life from school, so do not let anybody make you not believe in school. That is why I believe in school.

This I Believe–Shakeya

Posted by jefferson8 on 19th December 2007

There are many times when I’m upset, that I want to speak my mind about how I feel. I believe that I should be able to speak my mind and express my opinion on a topic. Speaking my mind is very important. Getting my point across to who ever helps a situation. As a child and being younger than most people, no one really listens to my side of a story or a problem. Adults always assume that they are right because they are older. Most of the time they’re wrong. They don’t give me the chance to explain what happened at the moment. So when I decide to tell what happened, they think I’m rude. Speaking my mind about a problem helps me calm down. It will let the adult know how I feel about the problem and how they are assuming the wrong things in a situation. Maybe if I do it just enough, they will understand that speaking my mind is important to me. There are other times when I’m mad and others won’t let me express my feelings toward the problem. When I’m angry I have a lot on my mind including people and how I feel about everything. It takes a lot to get me upset, so when I am I do have a lot to say. If others would take the time to listen to what I have to say, it wouldn’t be as hard to calm me down. Trying to understand where I’m coming from may be hard to them. But if they let me speak my mind, it wouldn’t be so hard. Expressing my opinion is a part of speaking my mind. When there are multiple stories or arguments I want to be able to say what I think on a topic without anyone yelling or it leading to a fight. Everyone always has different feelings on any topic you can think of. Me telling my side of the argument couldn’t harm anyone because everyone feels different and thinks different. If I were going to tell my side, everyone would know how I feel or what I think about a topic. This is a main reason why people should speak their minds. It helps get a point across. Now as you can see speaking my mind is something important to me in my life. I don’t do it to be rude or mean in anyway. I do it to get my point across, express how I feel and so others will listen to what I have to say. I think everyone has a time when they want to speak their mind but some (like me) can’t hold it in too long.

This I Believe–Tyler

Posted by jefferson8 on 19th December 2007

I believe that guns protect people. Also I think that to shoot or carry a gun you should have adult supervision. That’s why I can’t shoot mine unless my stepdad is around. First of all, people carry guns around where there not supposed to. Like on Tuesday there was a very tragic shooting in Omaha, Nebraska. This kid was carrying a gun and then started shooting at people. He killed eight people including his own. He also injured fifteen other lives. As a kid you need adult supervision to shoot a gun. If you Shoot a gun and kill somebody you will be in serious trouble. Your parents can’t bail you out of jail. When you want to shoot a gun by yourself you have to get a shooting license first. In order to get a license you have to go through shooting test and a bunch of other tests. I believe you should have adult supervision in order to shoot a gun. The adult supervision is for if you shoot someone you go to jail. There has been a lot of tragic accidents involving guns. So next time you want to shoot a gun have adult supervision.

This I Believe–Dan

I believe that all people should eat chicken instead of turkey on Thanksgiving because chicken is good. I like chicken and you like chicken we all like chicken. Eat Mor Chikn!!! For example every Thanksgiving I have ever had, my family had a turkey. And every year, no matter who makes it, the white meat is always dry. It is horrible! I just put gravy on it and then everyone is upset because I took a lot of the gravy. I have never had to put gravy on my chicken. Turkey costs more than chicken. I’m not sure on the price because I’m not a butcher but a whole turkey costs twice as much as a whole chicken. That’s two chickens for the price of one turkey! You can save your money for the next upcoming holiday. And most important of all is you don’t really fry turkey. You can, but I have never seen it before. And I have heard that it’s dangerous. Can you imagine fried chicken for Thanksgiving? Yum! Those are three perfect reasons to fry up a chicken (or two) instead of a 20 pound turkey for Thanksgiving. So people listen to me! I know what I’m talking about. I believe that chicken should be used for turkey on Thanksgiving! ***Just think of all those turkeys lives you are saving***

This I Believe–Kolt

Posted by jefferson8 on 19th December 2007

I believe that I will make it to the NFL because I am good at football. I have good grades; I have a positive attitude for the game of football. , And I’m never going to stop playing, be the best I can be at school so I can get AS and BS I need for football. I remember the first time I played football in 2005 for the Mid Rivers Eagles. I impressed the coach and became starting wide receiver. He liked how I could catch the ball. He also liked how fast and agile I was. That, to me, was really awesome that he thought of me like that. Then in 2006 I moved to Illinois and played football for the Champaign Colts. That was a good experience for me to learn new skills. On the Eagles I didn’t play defense but on the Colts I made starting safety l loved defense so much I barely played offense. I loved to hit people. Now today I want to make the NFL being a corner back. When our coach left us for another team, we were no longer in the CIYFL league. We had to quit. We went to a team called the Champaign Panthers in 2007. We were a good team, but we had bad coaches. They didn’t teach us anything so a lot of people quit, but I was one who stayed with it because I love football. No matter what I’ll keep playing football and staying fit. If I make it to the NFL I won’t take it for granted.

This I Believe–Dunia

Posted by jefferson8 on 19th December 2007

I believe the scarf I wear makes me a better Muslim. Islam is my religion and I intend on following it. I remember the first time I wore the scarf. People gave me these dirty looks that I’ve never seen before. They had such hate in their eyes. And at the time I didn’t exactly understand why. I don’t mean everybody, but I do mean most. It made me hate wearing the scarf. I felt like I was being watched every minute I wore it. People would just rip my heart out. I believe the scarf was a command from God not a choice. I believe I will wear the scarf for life no matter what anybody says or does. After a while that all changed. People realized it was the same old me. I didn’t get those looks anymore. Though I still do get random questions like do I wear it at home, at parties, in front of my relatives…etc. That doesn’t really bother me. I believe I still am the same person just following Gods order. People sometimes ask if I ever feel different that I stand out from others. I say I know I’m not alone. It’s hard being the only one in my school that wears a scarf. I do sometimes get comments and remarks. I don’t mind standing out. As long as it is in a good way, then I don’t get bothered, but when people start talking that’s when I get bothered. I believe there are many other young Muslim ladies who wear the scarf and feel the same way. I hate when people ask me to take the scarf off. I feel like I’m dealing with people that don’t understand. Even after I explain to them that it is not possible for me to take my scarf off, the same people still come and ask me to take it off, again. I believe no one can make me take it off. Not now, not ever. Many people think I have changed. I say all that really changed was my clothing, but that’s not even it. All I did was add an extra accessory. Some people get that and some people don’t. I believe that now it is who I am. And no one can change that.

This I Believe–Brylen

Posted by jefferson8 on 19th December 2007

I believe in me, myself, and me succeeding

I believe in me because I know that I can succeed. I can succeed because I know that I did before. One time I didn’t know how to ride a bike when I was four and my dad told me that I will have to learn on my own. That special day I got on my bike and I was riding and riding and never fell again.

I even succeed in school when I needed help and didn’t get help. I did it on my own. When I needed help on math and my teacher ignored me I read the directions and figured it out on my own. My teacher was surprised that I figured it out by myself. She gave me extra points for doing it on my own.

When I had a worksheet on some problems I needed help and I raised my hand and the teacher didn’t answer me. So when the teacher didn’t answer I read the directions and I figured the problem out by myself. I told the teacher that I had got it figured out and she was proud of me and gave me some points.

Now you can see how I succeeded and how I believe in me, me, and me. People can succeed by using some my ideas and by sticking to their beliefs.
