This I Believe–Austin

Posted by jefferson8 on March 4th, 2008

I believe in heading in the right direction. Kids and teens in the U.S. are being pressured into gangs and drugs and a lot of bad stuff, but not all the kids in gangs are bad most of them have very bad home lives. And the gang is like the only real family they have. I have a friend in California and he is in a gang. One day I walked into his house and he was smoking pot. I asked him why he smokes pot and he said “it’s to calm me down” and I said “it’s not good for you” and he said “I don’t care” and he told me to leave. This same kid is 16 and has a kid. And the girl took the kid back to Puerto Rico so now one of the girls in the gang wants him to be her baby daddy. I believe that this is not good and kids should not be like this. I believe that going in the right direction is the most important thing for kids to do as they grow up.

Going in the right direction is very important. If a kid is involved in extracurricular activities then I am involved in football, baseball, and drama stage crew and these things make me busy. If a kid is busy then they won’t be able to be involved in gangs and drugs and that sort of thing. If kids are into these sports it will be easier to get into a good collage and then get a well paying job.  To get involved in sports there are many ways. One way to get involved is to go to your local school unit and find out when the sport starts. You can get involved with school sports as well. Drama you can get involved by talking to your drama teacher at school. And if school does not work out right there are community type things you can do.
